12 Ethics of Walking the Red Road

Traveling along the path of the Red Road is not an easy one, it is full of disappointments, obstacles, and temptations. But we must continue on it, for we know it is the right path to follow.” -Grandma Rosetta, White Eagle, OK.

Ethic 1

Honor the Great Spirit

Every element of creation expresses the Creator. Within each mountain, each stone, and each heart lies the Great Spirit. All are of the Creator, each particle of the universe is equally deserving of respect and admiration. When looking upon a sunset, the trees, or even your worst enemy, you are looking at the Creator. Know this and give praise and prayer.

“A wee Child toddling in a wonder world, I prefer to their dogma my excursions into the natural gardens where the voice of the Great Spirit is heard in the twittering of the birds and the sweet breathing of flowers. If this is Paganism, then at present, at least, I am a Pagan…” – Zitkala-Sa, (Red Bird), Sioux author and activist. 1876-1938

Ethic 2

Honor Mother Nature

Mother Nature is not for us…she is part of us and we, like everything else that lives and breathes upon her, are her children. Your own direct connection with Mother Earth is to be encouraged daily. Paint her portraits, swim in her waters, tend to her flowers, stroll through her glorious forest, and care for her many children: all plants, people, and animals. We must live according to her principals and choose not to pollute her body. The alternative is death to our Mother – and death to her children.

“The Great Spirit is our father, but the Earth is our mother. She nourishes us; that which we put into the ground she returns to us, and healing plants she gives us likewise. If we are wounded, we go to our mother and seek to lay the wound part against her, to be healed.” – Bedagi (Big Thunder), Wabanaki Algonquin, 1900’s

Ethic 3

Search for Yourself, by Yourself

Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your path road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you. Accept yourself and your actions. Own your thoughts. Speak up when wrong, and apologize. Know your path at all times. To do this you must know yourself inside and out, accept your gifts as well as your shortcomings, and grow each day with honesty, integrity, compassion, faith, and brotherhood.

“I have made myself what I am.” – Tecumseh, Shawnee, 1768-1813

Ethic 4

Community Code of Conduct

Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed, and treat them with respect. Honor the thoughts, wishes, and words of others. Never interrupt another or mock or mimic them. Allow each person the right to freedom of opinion. Respect that opinion. Never speak ill of others. As you travel along life’s road never harm anyone, nor cause anyone to feel sad. On the contrary, if at any time you can make a person happy, do so.

“Even as you desire good treatment, so render it. -Handsome Lake, Seneca, C. 1735-1815

Ethic 5

Banish Fear from Your Life

Fear stunts your soul and limit’s the amount of road needed to travel to reach the Tree of Life and to know the Great Spirit. Fear is nonbeneficial and body and leads to an unbalanced mind, body, and spirit. To banish fear you must know your path and trust yourself and the world around you. With trust comes confidence. Self-confidence banishes fear.

“I fear no man, and I depend on the Great Spirit.” – Kondiaronk, Huron, late 17th century.

Ethic 6

Respect

Respect is to be given for all beings placed upon this earth by the creator.

Respect is to be given to elders, who are rich with wisdom.

Respect one’s privacy, thoughts, and wishes.

Respect human siblings by only speaking of their good qualities.

Respect one’s personal space and belongings.

Respect another’s spiritual path and do not judge their choices.

“Trouble no one about their religion; respect others on their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, and beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and it’s purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and bow to one….” – Tecumseh, Shawnee, 1768-1813

Ethic 7

Speak the Truth

Speak only the truth and do right always. You are what you say and what you say needs to be honest, forthright, and of your own personal belief. Without truth, you cannot achieve inner balance – balance within yourself, with other beings, with Mother Earth, and with the Creator.

“Good words do not last long until they amount to something.” – Chief Joseph (..Hin-..Mah-..Too-..Yah-Lat-Kekt), Nez Perce, 1840-1904

Ethic 8

Reject Materialism

When one is materialistic, one is not right with the Red Road. To value and appreciate what you have to know that you are loved and save under the limbs of the Tree of Life, is to reject materialism and to live a life of virtue and appreciation. Materialism only fills your heart with envy and greed, while appreciation breeds contentment, balance, and true happiness.

“… These are young men. I am their Chief. Look among them and see if you can find among them who are rich. They are all poor because they are all honest.” – Red Dog, Oglala Sioux, 1870

Ethic 9

Seek Wisdom

Those who are wise have lived a lifetime with ears open and a willingness to not only experience truth, but to pursue it well.

Wisdom is gained by:

Listening to your elders. They have walked a longer path than you.

Seeking all that is true. Wisdom lies within honesty, not deception.

Realizing education is never-ending. Even death is a final lesson.

Learning from Mother Nature. Her wisdom is infinite.

“The greatest obstacle to the internal nature is the mind. If it relies on logic such as the white man’s mind, the domain of the inner nature is inaccessible. The simple fact is a man does not challenge the wisdom of the Holy Mystery.” – Turtleheart, Teton Sioux.

Ethic 10

Practice Forgiveness

Your journey upon the Red Road will be filled with acts requiring forgiveness – forgiveness of others and forgiveness of yourself. Mindfully practice this incredible act of humanity and the Red Road will be an easy path to follow. Also, absolution breeds the same in others. Be quick ot forgive and others will grant you the same kindness.

“Indians love their friends and kindred, and treat them with kindness.” – Cornplanter Seneca, 1736-1836

Ethic 11

Practice Optimism

It is easy to live within the shadow of fear, procrastination, and pessimism. But these are bad habits and stumbling blocks the keep you from experiencing life, the Red Road, and the Great Spirit. It is well known to the Native people that optimism is the key to good health. Worry makes you sick – as do bad thoughts. Replace them with happiness and optimism and you shall live a long and healthy life.

“Oh hear me, Grandfather, and help us, that our generation in the future will live and walk the good road with the flowering stick of success. Also, the pipe of peace, we will offer it as we walk the good road to success.Hear me, and hear our plea……” – Black Elk, Oglala Sioux, 1863-1950

Ethic 12

Take What You Need, Leave the Rest Be

There is nothing placed on this Erath that deserves to be destroyed or wasted for the purpose of human convenience. To destroy trees and leave them unused because they simply block the garden, or to kill animals only for their fur, is not a rightful way to share the world with another. To waste or discard due to own selfishness is an act that goes against the Creator, and strays you from the good Red Road.

“Now tell me this one little thing, if thou hast any sense: Which of these two is the wisest and happiest – he who labors without ceasing and only obtains, and that great trouble, enough to live on, or he who rest in comfort and finds all that he needs in the pleasure of hunting and fishing? – Gaspesian Chief

Energy Cleaning 101 Workshop

Energy Cleaning 101 Workshop

Workshop: basics on how to clean, clear, shift, assess, locate, change, remove old, unwanted energies and create new energies that help you in all areas of our lives.

What energies are attracting that might be connected to others, ourselves, home, office that keeps you circulating in the same patterns? Energies will stay around until recognized and then intentionally with physical tools cleaning it away or transmuting it into something workable. Energies are constant and attracting to us exactly the kinds of energies that surround us. Energies can be brought to a home, office, attach to our bodies and possessions we have. Energy is the foundation of everything around us. Everything has an energy field of some kind. We need to be conscious of these energies as the energies can cause disease, death, illness, violent and harsh manifestations or support our growth and dreams. On a good note learning simple tools in order to clean up energies can change us, change what we are attracting and change the environments we live and occupy.

Making Prayer Workshop

Traditional tobacco is sometimes used directly for healing in traditional medicine. It may be burned in a fire or smoked in a pipe, yet the smoke is generally not inhaled. In many teachings, the smoke from burned tobacco has a purpose of carrying thoughts and prayers to the spirit world or to the Creator.

Workshop: will cover basics in prayer medicines and creating sacred space. We will cover tobacco prayer, herbal medicine blends for prayer, prayer, offerings, smudge and smudge blends, fire medicine, intentions, how to use and when. No teachings on pipe medicine will be given other than the story of how that medicine came into being.

Purification Prayer

Great Spirit (U-ne-qua), whose voice I hear in the wind,

Whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me;
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others.
Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy MYSELF.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.

Grandmothers Circle a Gathering

This Grandmothers Circle is a very long time coming for me and many women who will join us to learn, grow, become friends with each globally. Women from young to old are welcome. The name of the gathering, of course, came from the grandmothers who live all around us in the trees, rocks, stones, grasses, plants, the moon, and many other forms.

I went through a long period of prayer in which the grandmothers helped me to organize this online quarterly gathering. The grandmothers named it so that we remember we are coming for them, for the grandmothers in this world who need to be heard by us to communicate to the rest of the world. To be a steward for any needs they may have, especially when they ask us for our help. The grandmothers also wanted me to hold the energies of the number four, this is why we are meeting quarterly. Four corners are needed for a foundation, four seasons, four directions where the grandmother’s strengths are.

My main intention is to learn from each other in very Native, Original, Ancient, traditional and Indigenous ways. To learn to make right with everything that is so wrong, in a good way, in relationship to All Our Relations.

No matter what names we call her, the grandmother she is the constant adaptation, working to flourish no matter what, she is the intentions to the details we overlook as young women, the very simple ceremonies, rites, and attention to the care, nurturing and faith of our world. We get caught in the futuristic world sold to us by any means to hook us, stall us and hold us, we become the prisoner, instead of the keepers, co-creators, birther’s alongside the grandmothers to cure, fix, heal, sow a new future.

This gathering is about women, young, confused, lost, emotional, old, free, chained, afraid, in joy coming together to learn the ways, ancient ways lost from our cultures about the medicines of the grandmothers, our ancestors and of course La Madre Tierra, Mother Earth and one of my favorites Pachamama!

Come as you are, learn with us, build with us, love with us and of course gather with us.

Sunday, December 24, 2017 ~  10 am Pacific ~ 10 am to 12 Noon.

Jannie Vaught will be teaching on December theme: We sleep as the trees. How our lives closely resemble the seed. Whip and producing a tree. How we go dormant to rest and build our time of production. Let us rest when we need to. Let us grow when we are fully ready. We have the winter time of sleep. Listen to your body. Listen to your intuitions.

Jannie Vaught was born to the bird clan in 1953. Four generations of farmers who came to central calif in the dust bowl. Okies. She was called to the medicine path as a small girl. Jannie carried huge quarts everywhere as a child, everywhere she went. Jannies stone/s sat at the doorway. White quarts trained in ceremony and healing energy, also trained as herbalist and massage therapist. Jannie has always gardened. In a life ending car crash in 2009 coming out of humblecha, Jannie met the third person, yes, there was a third person in the car. Jannie had been crushed and her left unserviceable along with a triple head injury, she was taken to Gallup, New Mexico hospital. Only her my hips and legs were not broken. Jannie’s right arm was scheduled to be amputated. however on that day at the hospital there happened to be a young orthopedic surgeon his name Dr. Scott Baker. Dr. Baker was Just in from Iraq. He put my arm back on and many surgeries later, somehow the life source in her and her arm has never left. Today at 64 Jannie lives with her two daughters in the hill country of Texas. They have wind, solar power, and a permaculture garden. She started the farmer’s market, a seed library and she writes a weekly column in two local papers. Bloom where you’re planted. She is a testament to the Abounding Love of Creator. The patience and encouragement of Mother Earth. Jannie is grateful for the incredible genetics of her Cherokee, German and Irish heritage.

Changes at the Red Road Society Effective October 9, 2017

I have been asked by the amazing Principle Chief of the in the Past Free Cherokee and the recent attempt to move towards the Red Road Society. This message is to inform you of events that have taken place over the last year and where it all stands today and what the future is.

Early this year Principle Chief created an Inner Hoop Council to help her and support the work needed in order to realign the Free Cherokee in a good way. It became obvious to the council early on that the Free Cherokee was not in alignment with the traditional Native ways anymore, there was issues, concerns from other Native peoples about many of the Free Cherokee ways.

The Inner Council voted to change from the Free Cherokee to the Red Road Society to re-establish what was good and to let go what was not serving anymore.

I offered to build the website at that time, I bought the domain and hosting and began building. Over several meetings and several months we meet and discussed much of the stuff that made it onto the website. There were so many issues to deal with, try to overcome. We did it though and I got the website up.

This part is not to do harm to anyone, it is not meant to be disrespectful in any way, it is why we are here where we are at now and must be understood for the good of all.

The Principle was putting out teachings about the Lakota way and the seven directions. Only 3 people showed up to the last teaching online she gave for the Red Road Society.

We understand that people have their lives, but it became an impossible feat by those involved to get any interest in the Red Road Society and to be honest there were just not many confirmed members from the Free Cherokee anymore.

Two weeks ago, we had to call it quits. I was getting ready to launch a website educational plan to try to get more interest in what we were doing, our visions and goals. The motivation just was gone. The Principle officially has closed the Free Cherokee and Red Road Society.

The Future.

I have recently removed all the past information of the Red Road Society website http://redroadsociety.com/ . I have asked permission to keep it and it was granted by the Principle to use for my own work. There is an email contact page if you wish to contact me on the rrs site. I am moving activities, blogs, events to the facebook page: Ministry of Consciousness & Snake Clan if you would like to keep informed about Red Road Society. The Ministry Of Consciousness is the Legal shelter of the Red Road Society, the Mother if you will. Postings about the Red Road Society will be on the Ministry of Consciousness & Snake Clan FB Page and

http://redroadsociety.com/ .

I will be offering so much on the Red Road website in the near future. I have a trading post for all Native, Indigenous, Original goods people can email with goods, products, and medicines. I would be honored to help.

There will be a women’s group that will I hope to start next month to share, teach ceremony and medicines with each other. Medicine and Shamanic women from all over the world. This should be announced in the future. The gathering is free, but I would be great’ful for a few donations to be given whenever possible, there are many costs involved with zoom meetings, websites and sometimes traveling expenses and gas to make all this happen. Donations can be made on the front page of the http://ministryofconsciousnessnevada.org/ there is a donation area.

I am in the process of creating the International Association of Original Medicine which will house Native, Traditional and Original Medicine people from all over the world and their bloodline work. In the Future, we hope to have International Conferences and Workshops in person and online for learning, understanding such ancient medicine. All of this will also go with the twelve Conscious Medicine Center worldwide we are also working on. These centers will be international and the Original Medicine Practitioners will be the “Doctors” in these centers. We hope to have long term and short term stays, farms on site where food is grown in original ways and is made for the benefit of all during their stays.

I have been working on much of this now since 2003.

I will be using the Red Road Society website to build, inform and educate people, as well as a place where I can put the information as it comes together. It will be up to you if interested to make sure you are checking the rrs website so you know what is going on and when.

My business partner in the IAOOM or International Association of Original Medicine is an amazing man who I met several years ago. We are doing a discussion and talk together that I will record to put up on rrs website, this meeting kicks off officially the start of getting much of this workout. The foundation I guess. He name is Muwonge Hassan and he is Traditional Medicine Man from Uganda like I said amazing and I am so lucky to have these amazing people around me, working with me and helping me to bring medicine back to the world in the way it was made, created and designed. Look for our recorded dialog on the rrs site towards the end of October. Until then enjoy the first in-person conversation I had with him after a year of emails. This was an interview I did with him when I had my online TV show/s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEtLz88-Oz4

In closing and out of honor and respect “we” felt we should let you know where things stand now and where they are headed for the future.

Co-Creation

Lately, I have noticed that the creator puts everything I need out on the canvas (painting) for the day. Thought the canvas is blank, Creator gives me the brushes, paints, easel, chair, water, lunch and sets it all up with a beautiful view for me to just paint what I see, what I feel into being. So simple, but most days I do not even notice I am so caught up with what I think I need. If I needed groceries I could just paint them into existence. Like the ancient people painting the buffalos on cave walls with arrows through them, conjuring the food their people needed already dead and all they need to do is walk out of the cave and find where it lays, honor the buffalo and pack it home to the people, that easy, effortless. Each day I pray to the Creator to assist me to understand this, to guide and aid my hands to paint that which I need, that which others need, that which my Mother Earth needs and all beings upon her. I know Creator does not care if the image on the painting looks like the image in my head, Creator knows what I am getting at, it is about meeting Creator halfway, working with Creator, to create as a co-creator for the good of all, for all my relations. As co-creator I am responsible for all life here on earth that does not have the hands to paint, it is up to me to communicate with the tree beings to understand their needs and to get an image in my head to paint onto the canvas for their good. Co-creating with Creator the holographic images into the mind field and painted onto physical, emotional canvas effortlessly bringing into this reality what the image bares.
